"Slaapverwekkend" is most often used figuratively to say something was mind-numbing or extremely boring. When literally inducing sleep you will often hear the word "slaapopwekkend" (which means the same thing really).

("I didn’t finish the book; after the first chapter I already thought it was mind-numbing!")
