    Jan Smit’s music is an example of the ‘palingsound’ genre. Jan Smit is from Volendam, known for “paling” (eel, eels). ‘Palingsound’ is a specific kind of Dutch music only produced in Volendam. A bit more ‘mainstream’ but still ‘palingsound’ are ‘Nick & Simon’.
